Classical Concert Kicks Off Music SeriesJulie Lyn Barber performs at 7pm at The Farmland Center
We will kick off our 2012 Concert Series on Friday, March 30 with an evening of classical music. Julie Lyn Barber sings a solo recital of vocal works from the 17th to 20th centuries including songs by Henry Purcell, Hugo Wolf and Kurt Weill as well as dazzling opera arias by Mozart, Bellini and Offenbach, accompanied by Ken Chan at the piano. Barber is a doctoral student in vocal performance at Ball State University where she recently was awarded Honorable Mention in the Concerto Competition and won first place in the "Advanced Women and Men’s" division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing State Auditions..
The concert series will be a regular feature at The Center and will highlight different musical styles with each show. Later concerts will include jazz, country, bluegrass and gospel with a line-up of acts both local and regional as well as the possibility of a national act coming through town later in the year.
Admission to the first concert is $3. Doors will open at 6:30 and the concert will start at 7:00. For more information call 468-7631.
